Multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) have the excellent mechanical, electrical, thermal, and optical properties. Poly(L-lactide) (PLLA) is an increasingly popular biodegradable and biocompatible polymer with potential application. MWNT/polymer nanocomposites have attracted considerable attention because the individual properties of the components can be combined to give novel hybrid nanomaterials with unique multifunctional properties, and execellent processability. In this study, 2-aminoethanethiol was chemically attached to the surface of MWNTs to make MWNT-SH. L-Lactide was polymerized by the 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) as an initiator through the ring-opening polymerization to make PLLA. The final product, MWNT/PLLA, was produced from the fast and simple method by UV irradiation. The properties of the hybrid nanocomposites (MWNT/PLLA) were characterized by various analytical tools. |
