Inhibitory effect of Lespedeza cuneata extract on melanogenesis |

Hyperpigmentation is concerned by the cosmetic industry through the development of agents that block melanin biosynthesis. Tyrosinase is a key enzyme for melanin biosynthesis, and hyperpigmentation disorder are associated with abnormal accumulation of melanin pigments, which can be improved by treatment with depigmenting agents. Also, an inhibitor of α-glucosidase suppresses tyrosinase enzymatic activity and melanogenesis. The inhibition effect of plant extracts on melanogenesis was investigated in B16F1 murine melanoma cells stimulated by α-MSH. Results showed the 30% and 90% inhibition of tyrosinase and α-glucosidase, respectively. |
