제목 | Synthesis and Metal Binding Properties of a Water-Soluble Biodegradable Polyester |
초록 | Efficient enrichment and separation of hazardous metal ions using functional polymers in aqueous solutions play an important role for their removal in municipal and industrial waste-water. It can be enhanced by using the Liquid-phase Polymer-based Retention (LPR) technique, which was developed as an alternative to overcome the disadvantages of pre-concentration and separation of metal ions in the heterogeneous phase. In this case, the separation and preconcentration process is performed in the aqueous homogeneous phase in conjunction with membrane filtration, a widely applied separation process. In this study, a biodegradable polymer, the polycondensate of poly(ethylene glycol) and tartaric acid, was synthesized at a high reaction temperature and characterized by FT-IR and NMR spectroscopy, TGA, and GPC. The metal binding properties of the water-soluble polyester for standard 10 metal ions investigated in aqueous solution will be discussed. |
