Investigation and Characterization of Polyphenylene sulfide used filler Multi-walled carbon nanotube |

Polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) is a kind of thermoplastic engineering plastics and has a number of superior properties. But there are limits to the use of PPS alone because of brittleness caused by rigid backbone. In order to overcome brittleness and further extend its applications for engineering uses,in this study, PPS composites were prepared with different content of Multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT). Pristine MWCNT(p-MWCNT) and decorated with metal MWCNT(m-MWCNT) were prepared. Copper is the metal used in the decorating of carbon nanotubes. As a result, in mechanical test, PPS/MWCNT composites showed increased tensile strength than neat PPS. Young’s modulus of PPS/MWCNT composites was a little decreased. And elongation at break, tensile strength, and Young’s modulus of the composites decreased while content of MWCNT increased.Field emission scanning electron microscope(FESEM) and energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) were characterized Cu decorated MWCNT. |
