Recently as water resource has become an important issue, more practical and durable high performance material is required for membrane filtration. Block copolymers have the ability to create highly ordered structures by self-assembly. Thus a new material for nano-filtration has been designed using block copolymers. In this study, an amphiphilic block copolymer a homopolymer were blended, of which the homopolymer could interact with one of the blocks in the block copolymer by hydrogen bonding. Then the homopolymer was selectively removed afterwards, therefore, a nanoporous structure was created. We synthesized the PE/PEO block copolymer and studied these terpolymer blends with two methods premixed solution casting and layer-by-layer deposition. We studied the morphology of the blends using AFM and SEM analysis. Filtration study of the nanoporous blends was conducted and, the excellent anti-fouling effect of the blends has been observed. |
