In this work, the electroless plating of a metallic nickel on glass fiber surfaces was carried out to improve electric conductivity fibers. And the effects of metal content and plating time on the conductivity of fibers were investigated. The surface properties of carbon fibers were characterized using XRD, SEM. The electric conductivity of the fibers were measured using a 4-point testing method. As a results, electrical conductivity and thickness increased linearly in proportion to the Ni-electroless plating time. Also, it observed that electric conductivity predominantly enhanced up to the 10 min and then didn't show further enhancement in th 30 min, probably due to the formation of perfect Ni layers on glass fibers after certain times. |
