Organic photovoltaic (OPV) devices based on blends of π-conjugated polymers and fullerene derivatives have been the focus of intense research activities. Recently, several groups of chemists proposed new low band gap polymer structures in order to improve the matching between the solar spectrum and the polymer photon harvesting properties. In this study, alternating polymer containing 4,4’-didodecyl-2,2’bithiophene and phthalimide unit were synthesized through Stille coupling reaction. Imide groups have strongly electron-withdrawing properties and good hole mobility. Photovoltaic property of this polymer was investigated by fabricating bulk-heterojunction photovoltaic device using this polymer as electron donor and PCBM as the acceptor. |
