The electrochemical properties of pitch-based carbons were measured by constant current and constant voltage (CC/CV) charge / discharge test after being prepared at 1000℃ by petroleum pitch which has different softening point. Though the coke prepared at different temperature, we could get the pitch samples which have same softening point. Solvent fractionation was conducted for investigating each pitch as prepared. Samples with high softening point has more α-resin(quinoline insoluble and Toluene insoluble) content. To know the molecular weight distribution, MALDI-TOF analysis was conducted and the result was well consistent with solvent fractionation analysis. The discharge capacity retention tested at different rate was more stable when the sample has higher softening point and showed notable difference between them. In conclusion, the softening point affect rate capability more than any other electrochemical properties of pitch-based carbon samples. |
