A petroleum-based carbon materials can be obtained the various types of anode materials for LIBs, leading to pitch properties and preparation conditions. The electrochemical performance of pitch-based anodes strongly depends on its structure, porosity, which can be controlled by selecting ideal precursors and controlling preparation conditions. In this study, we tried to develop the suitable anodic material using petroleum pitch as a starting feedstock through the co-carbonization of isotropic pitch with anisotropic pitch. To prepare the green cokes, the mixture was co-carbonized at 500 °C for 1 h under N2 atmosphere. Obtained green coke was pre-heated at 800 °C for 30 min and then heat treatment 1200 to 2000°C for 30 min under Ar atmosphere. For comparison, non-preheated cokes were prepared at 1200°C for 30 min under atmosphere. The conditions for heat treatment of petroleum-based anode materials were investigated to maximize its discharge capacity and rate performance. |
