제목 A potential diagnosis motif of disease based on swelling mechanism of inverse opal hydrogel induced by donnan potential
초록 Inverse opal hydrogels (IOHs) sensor have been drawing much attention due to their novel property. IOHs can swell or shrink in response to external stimuli, which leads to diffraction of selective wavelengths in accordance with Bragg’s law [1].

In particular, with simple alteration in the components of hydrogels, IOHs can be presented as pH-ionic strength, humidity, temperature and gas concentration sensors. Among the aforementioned examples, pH and ionic strength sensing IOHs is suitable for bio-implantable platform, as the sensing method of it is based on reversible mechanism [2]

Herein, we fabricated high quality pH responsive IOHs film by templating photo-polymerization of hydrogel monomers on a three-dimensional (3D) silica nanoparticles (SNPs) colloidal array. First, the array was prepared by self-assembly of monodisperse SNPs [3]. Next, we backfilled the array with hydrogel precursor materials, followed by cross-linking using UV light. After removal of the SNPs array with hydrofluoric acid, we finally obtained macroporous IOHs. After the fabrication of IOHs, the structural dimensions and diffracted lights were analyzed by scanning electron spectroscopy (SEM) and visible light detectors with controlling the pH of surrounding.

To summarize the results, the IOHs responded to pH through volume change, which was resulted from the change of the Donnan potential. As the pH increasing, the pore size of the IOHs increased and diffracted color was red-shifted from blue to red.

Based on optimized fabrication of IOHs above, our further research on development of biocompatible sensor for the detection of bio-functional signals would open new avenues in medical diagnosis [4].
