A pilot scale desorption process has been design in order to recover rare metal ions such as lithium and indium in this study. Bipolar membranes (Neosepta-BP-1) and cation exchange membranes (Neosepta-CMX) were used as key materials, and inorganic absorbents for lithium and indium ions were used for absorption in this process. Several parameters, voltage, number of membranes, and flow rate, have been set and investigated as variables. The results showed that the mentioned parameters play important roles in boosting water splitting which drive desorption of metal ions. The desorption efficiency of electrical desorption process has been compared to that of chemical desorption process. |
