Ultra-large and Thermally Stable Electro-optic Properties in Supramolecular Self-Assembled Molecular Glasses |

A series of molecular engineered organic glasses have been prepared to exploit the use of complementary aromatic-perfluoroaromatic (Ar-ArF) interactions to improve poling efficiency. These self-organized molecular glasses have also been used as a host in the binary chromophoric systems to further improve the number density of chromophores and electro-optic (EO) properties. Ultrahigh EO coefficients (up to 327 pm/V at the wavelength of 1310 nm) and good temporal stability could be achieved in these materials. The availability of such high EO coefficients enables not only unprecedented performances in conventional device formats, but also the development of new devices such as hybrid modulators and EO polymers integrated with silicon photonics. |
