제목 Phosphoric acid-based Membrane using Poly(dimethyl siloxane)for High Temperature PEMFCs
초록 Sulfonic acid-based membranes which are widely used have excellent proton conductivity. However, there is a drawback that it can not be used at high temperatures because proton conducting mechanism cannot work above 100 ℃ due to dehydration. So we developed phosphoric acid-based membrane to be used at high temperature and low humid condition. Phosphoric acid presents the relatively high proton conductivity without water because of its self dissociation nature. We synthesized the thermostable and conductive material that has phosphorous groups based on poly(dimethyl siloxane) (PDMS). PDMS has been widely used in various application due to thermal and chemical stability and low price. PDMS is intrinsically hydrophobic but it can be modified to be amphiphilic by substituting end groups with hydrophilic phosphorous groups. The membranes were thermally stable up to 300 ℃ and maintained the constant proton conductivity above 100 ℃ under dry conditions.
