We investigates crystal characteristics of highly efficient electro-optic configurationally locked polyene (CLP) phenyltriene analogue OH1 (2-(3-(4-hydroxystyryl)-5,5-dimethylcyclohex-2-enylidene)malononitrile), OH2 (2-(3-(4-hydroxystyryl)-5-methylcyclohex-2-enylidene)malononitrile), and DAT2 (2-(3-(2-(4-dimethylaminophenyl)vinyl)-5,5-dimethylcyclohex-2-enylidene)malononitrile) crystals for THz wave generation and detection. In order to improve the crystal characteristic of CLP crystals suitable for THz applications, we grow bulk CLP crystals with various crystal growing conditions with slow cooling method and slow evaporation method in various solvent mixtures. With change of solvent ratio in mixture, polymorph is observed and their morphology including the facet and thickness is modified. |
