Surface-Enhancement Raman Scattering from Heterogeneous Metal Nanoparticles Assemblies in Diblock Copolymer Micelles |

Heterogeneous metal nanoparticles (NPs) assemblies consisting of Au NPs and Ag NPs are quite interesting because both component NPs exhibit localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) in visible region. In particular, one can induced plasmonic coupling between Au and Ag NPs by adjoining them in the nanoscale proximity. In this regard, we arranged Au and Ag NPs in the separate locations, i. e. core and corona, of polystyrene-block-poly(acrylic acid) micelles to induce the plasmonic coupling in the micellar structures. Here, the surface of Au NPs was modified by Raman active ligand, which was surrounded by Ag NPs in the assemblies. Considering this configuration could be promising for surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS), we further studied the Raman spectra from the micellar NP assemblies by adjusting the size of nanoparticles or micelles. |
