제목 Indium doped copper tungstate for enhanced photoelectrochemical water splitting
초록 The solar-driven water splitting is a promising system to make sustainable and renewable energy. A key reaction of this system is the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) because this reaction is kinetically more sluggish than the hydrogen evolution reaction. Therefore, the development of effective photoanode materials is one of the most challenging for resolving these problems. Meanwhile, many researchers have made relatively various strategies for well-known metal oxide-based photoanode. But solar to hydrogen efficiency of those materials is much lower than the ideal one due to critical obstacles.

A copper tungstate is a promising material because it has a narrow bandgap (~2.3eV) and comparatively durable stability in neutral aqueous conditions. However, this material suffers from extremely poor charge separation and transport efficiency. In this work, we develop a copper tungstate photoanode using indium doping as an extrinsic n-type dopant. The indium 0.2% doped CuWO4 shows the most significant activity among various indium doping concentrations. The photocurrent density of this sample shows twice times than unmodified CuWO4 by increasing charge carrier density
