Paradigm shift in energy industry led by climate change mitigation and shale gas revolution is becoming increasingly dominant worldwide, and many countries including USA, EU, Japan and China are putting more efforts on renewable energy and low-carbon society development. Korea’s core industries are facing serious challenges from stagnant economic growth and absence of new growth engines. Energy industry is not an exception from these challenges, and thus a new strategy is required to reactivate the dynamics of energy industry in Korea. Carbon-neutral plans have been coming out from major economies including over 130 countries. Korea has recently begun to actively engage in these challenges, carrying forward energy transition as a new innovative growth strategy for the future. |
