The following study focuses on the qualitative analysis of the degradation of wood using supercritical ethanol (SCE) and supercritical methanol (SCM). Our previous study shows that the degradation of wood in SCE was better, quantitatively. This study tries to study the liquid products obtained from the degradation of wood at various temperatures (300, 315 and 330oC) by varying the holding time (0, 30, 60, 120 and 180 minutes). The product was analyzed using the GC/MS analysis. The liquid products obtained are categorized into Paraffin, Olefins and Naphthenes. Also, the product is categorized into aromatic and aliphatic group and also the information about carbon number is gathered for the analysis. |
