Bacteria can be beneficial or harmful to humans depending on the species. Therefore, to prevent damages caused by biological attack, fast and accurate determination and identification of bacteria should be performed. Surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS)is a powerful technique to detect biological reagent because it provides rapid and ultrasensitive detection with a large amount of fingerprint information for the identification of biological materials. In this study, the modified SERS substrate with silver or gold nanoparticles adsorbed onto glass is a tool that can accurately distinguish bacteria from small amounts without damage of the bacteria. Details on analysis of bacteria based on SERS will be discussed. |
