Three different-sized magnetic carbon nanoparticles are fabricated by a carbonization of polypyrrole nanoparticles. The prepared magnetic carbon nanoparticles with three different-sizes are utilized as dispersing materials of magnetorheological (MR) fluids in order to examine the relationship between the particle size and MR activities. With decreasing the particle size, the magnetic properties are enhanced, resulting in the enhancement of MR performances. The MR performances of magnetic carbon nanoparticles-based MR fluids are excellent compared with other carbon materials-based MR fluids. Moreover, the anti-settling properties are evaluated to confirm an influence of particle size on the MR fluids. |
