Bridged polysilsesquioxanes are hybrid organic-inorganic materials derived sol-gel processing of monomers containing a variable organic bridging group and two or more trialkoxysilyl groups. The organic group, covalently bonded to the trialkoxysilyl group, can be varied in composition, length, rigidity, and functionalization. Bridged polysilsesquioxanes have proven to be efficient candidates for applications in optical devices, high-capacity absorbents, 3D information storage media, and proton-conducting media for fuel cell. In this study, 2,4,6-trichloro-1,3,5-triazine was reacted with aminopropyltriethoxysilane to make monomer containing triazine and three ethoxysilyl groups. Triazine-bridged polysilsesquioxanes were prepared through the standard sol-gel methodology using a base as a catalyst. The composition, structure, thermal property and surface morphology of bridged polysilsesquioxanes were studied by UV-vis spectrophotometer, EDX, SEM, AFM, 1H-NMR, TGA, and DSC. |
