In this study, two kinds of polymers, T-PTB7 and M-PTB7 under thermal- and microwave-assisted conditions respectively, were synthesized through Stille-coupling polymerization in order to investigate the effect of assisted method on their photovoltaic performance. Although the microwave-assisted polymerization increases the molecular weight of PTB7 without broadening D in a short time, M-PTB7 exhibited a lower power conversion efficiency of 2.8% compared with that of T-PTB7 (7.8%). The microwave-assisted polymerization was found to accelerate the formation of homo-coupled units that work as charge-trapping sites in polymer solar cells consisting of M-PTB7 and PC70BM, which resulted in a decrease in Jsc and FF values for M-PTB7. The increase of these structural defects under the microwave conditions was investigated by optical spectroscopy and the model reaction study. |
