Star-shaped block copolymers having cores with different numbers of arms were prepared by sequential atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) of methyl methacrylate (MMA) and trimethylsilylhydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA-TMS) monomer. After the transformation of TMS group to bromoisobutyryl group, poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM) grafted star polymers were synthesized. Detailed synthetic routes and characterization of the resulting polymers will be presented. Also, the dependence of the unimolecular micellar properties according to the number of the arms will be discussed. |
