Pitch synthesis and carbonization reaction were studied based on the effect for chemical composition of feedstock. Feedstock was selected as pyrolyzed fuel oil (PFO) and coal-tar (CT), which are by-products in petroleum and steel industry. Pitch was prepared at 420 ℃ for 180 minutes on atmospheric pressure by thermal treatment. Thermal properties of prepared pitch were investigated by thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA), softening point (SP) and distribution of molecular weight was analyzed by MALDI-TOF analysis. PFO is composed by lower molecular weight materials compared with CT, and it has a lot of aliphatic chain materials which is removed during pitch synthesis. Thus, the weight loss of PFO is higher than that of CT at 300 ~ 500 ℃. However, the weight loss of CT is higher than that of PFO after 700 ℃, because condensation degree of CT is lower than that of PFO and quinoline insoluble of CT causes cracking reaction. |
