Polybenzimidazoles (PBIs) have received much attention for their uses as fibers, films, and fuel cell membranes with excellent thermal and mechanical performances. Multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) is used as reinforcing nanofiller to improve the electrical, mechanical and thermal properties of polymeric materials. In the present study, we have manufactured a series of PBI-based nanocomposite films containing 1-20 wt% MWCNT via a facile solution-casting method. The morphological features, and electrical resistivity and thermal stability of the nanocomposite films were then investigated by using an electron microscope, ohmmeter and thermogravimetric analyzer, respectively. To identify the photothermoelectric behavior of the nanocomposite films, time-dependent temperature, voltage and current changes were also characterized with aids of digital multimeter and laser diode sources with different visible wavelengths of 405, 520 and 635 nm. |
