The polyurethane (PU) has been widely used for various applications such as coatings, adhesives and elastomers because of their versatile properties such as high abrasion resistance, flexibility, and elasticity. However, there are some disadvantages of thermal stability and barrier properties. The methods to overcome these include copolymerization and blending. The polyurethane acrylate (PUA) and epoxy acrylate (EPA) were mixed with various compositions and then cured by UV. The properties of the UV cured copolymers were investigated by various analytical methods. The UV cured copolymers showed higher Tg and Ti than those of pure PU because the hard segments interrupted the movement of polymer main chains. As increasing the EP contents in the copolymer, Young’s modulus and tensile strength increased and the elongation at break decreased due to the stiffness of EP. As a result, it can be seen that the mechanical properties are improved as well as the disadvantages mentioned above. |
