제목 | Effect of divalent ions on the rigidity of multilayer thin films using QCM-D |
초록 | We have demonstrated that the well-ordered multilayer thin films could be produced in a very short time using a spin self-assembly (SA) method. We found out effect of cationic divalent ions which could make cross-linking between negative polyelectrolytes in multilayer films, so this effect could change the rigidity of the multilayer films. PAH (poly(allylamine hydrochloride)) and PAA (poly(acrylic acid)) in aqueous solutions were used to prepare multilayer films. The adsorption amounts and the thickness of thin films were characterized by ellipsometry, AFM and X-ray reflectivity. And changes of the dissipation energy of multilayer films were measured by QCM-D(quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation monitoring). After dipping of the (PAH/PAA)n multilayer films into the CaCl2 solutions, dissipation energy decreased rapidly. It means that Ca2+ ions could make cross-linking between the PAA chains, therefore rigidity of the multilayer films increased. We also studied the effect of molecular weights and pH of polyelectrolyte solutions on the adsorption amounts of Ca2+ ions and degree of rigidity. |
