Fluorosilicone rubber (FVMQ) is an elastomer composed of siloxane backbone and flourocarbon pendant groups, which has superior mechanical properties and oil resistance. Therefore, FVMQ is generally specified for sealing application in the automotive, oil & gas, industrial. However, due to problems of FVMQ such as more expensive price and lower heat resistance, silicone rubber (VMQ) is blended to improve its mechanical properties. In this study, we investigated the effects of blending VMQ on compatibility and compression set of the FVMQ composite. In addition, the Compression set of FVMQ/VMQ blends were evaluated at long-term heat aging (70h, 250h, 500h, 1000h). In conclusion, we demonstrated that the Compatibility and Compression set of the blends were significantly affected by the ratio of the FVMQ/VMQ. The result of this study can serve as a new roadmap for expanding the application of FVMQ products. |
