Benzo[1,2-b;4,5-b’]dithiophene (BDT)-Based Donor-Acceptor Alternating Copolymer for Field-effect Transistors |

Benzo[1,2-b;4,5-b’]dithiophene (BDT) is a completely planar moiety and has a strong propensity for π- π stacking in a molecular level. Its derivatives are often used for conjugated semiconductors, since the flat BDT moiety is also believed to aid strong π- π interactions in solid state such as crystalline films and single crystals. Conjugated polymers containing BDT moieties have been demonstrated to show high charge carrier mobility in thin film transistors. In this study, we synthesized new low bandgap alternating copolymer containing BDT monomer and electron accepting monomer via Stille coupling polymerization. Thermal analaysis, cyclic voltammetry, absorption spectroscopy, and photoluminescence spectroscopy were employed to investigate their intrinsic materials properties. The semiconducting properties were evaluated by fabricating thin film transistors. |
