Polymer Preparation Using Renewable Resources of Carbon Dioxide or Carbon Monoxide |
초록 |
A highly active catalyst was disclosed for the CO2/propylene oxide (PO) copolymerization. It is a cobalt(III) complex prepared from a Salen-type ligand tethered by four quaternary ammonium salts. The catalyst showed a high turnover number (TON) up to 16000 and a high turnover frequency (TOF) of 16000 h-1 that produced a strictly alternating copolymer with a high molecular weight (Mn) of up to 300000. These performances allow for constructing a pilot plant for continuous commercial process. Recent progess in this work will be presented. Morphology of the polymer particles can be controlled in ethylene/CO copolymerization by pressurizing catalyst-containing 1-octanol droplets dispersed in water. The catalyst should be harnessed with lipophilic long alkyl chains. Polymer particles of 0.5-1.0 mm size with bulk densities of 0.2-0.4 g/mL are produced without reactor fouling. |
