Ammonia wastewater has regarded as a growing concern with industrial development because the ammonium ion (NH4+) results in the eutrophication of aquatic ecosystem. Recently, electrochemical ammonia oxidation has been widely investigated due to its theoretically similar reaction process with lower potential compared with water oxidation. However, the sluggish catalytic kinetics of ammonia oxidation competing with water oxidation requires higher polarization potential for ammonia decomposition. In this respect, PEC ammonia oxidation process has drawn attention as a promising strategy since it can improve the conversion efficiency against to electrochemical way by reducing its requiring overpotential with controlled oxidation reaction pathway. Herein, the phosphorylation treatment mediated the surface catalytic of BiVO4 photoanode suitable for ammonia oxidation by suppressing the competitive water oxidation reaction. |
