Pretreatment of substrate improved fermentation efficiency due to inceased hydrolysis in the anaerobic digestion process. The high temperature and/or enzyme is used for pretreatment. In this study, various macroalgae (Laminaria japonica, Hizikia fusiforme, Porphyra tenera, Pachymeniopis elliptica, Codium fragile, Enteromorph) were treated with celluclast for biogas production. The effects of celluclast on hydrogen and methane gas production in batch experiments were evaluated. We treated to celluclast in macroalgae and cultured with sludge at 35°C for 72 h in anaerobic condition. L. japonica and H. fusiforme treated with celluclast showed. Celluclast treated L. japonica and H. fusiforme showed that hydrogen(25.4% and 42.8%), methane(12% and 85.2%) production increased compared to the non-treatment. However, the other macroalgae treated with celluclast didn’t produce biogas. |
