Bee propolis is a multifunctional material that has many antibiotic, antifungal, antiviral and antitumour properties. In this study, it was selected and modified with CMC for skin wound healing. CMC gel was synthesized by the gamma rays from a 60Co source, and used as a moisture and viscosity increasing agent mixed with propolis. The mechanical and water-holding properties of this hybrid were investigated as evidence supporting use for providing an effective wound healing environment. Further, the CMC-propolis gel has been investigated for inhibiting the growth of Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli strains, and the therapeutic research were performed on injured rats by healing with these CMC-propolis dressings. |
