We present a facile method for the direct loading of MnII ions inside sterically stabilized polymeric micelles, composed of end-modified double hydrophilic block-copolymers (DHBC). For MnII loading, DHBC was end-modified with hydrophobic pyrene, which can play a critical role on micellization and serve as a fluorescent probe for the in-situ monitoring of structural changes. Employing such polymeric micelle as a nanoscale template, MnII ions can be immobilized at the chelating block of micelle by coordination bond. The resulting MnII-loaded polymeric nanoparticles allow for the substantial interaction with water molecules at the MnII-bound interior for enhanced magnetic resonance contrasting effect. |
