Our society have been suffered a lack ofelectric energy. Every summer, our goverment limited a use of air condition. Forthis reason, many researcher tried to developed IR-cut film, solar cell or IR-reflectivepaint on the building surfaces to save the summer consumption of theelectricity. Focus on these purposes, we tried to evaporating structures forcooling materials. Thermo-sensitive polymer, Poly(N-isopropylacrylamide)(PNIPAM), which emitting their inside water whentemperature was higher than low critical solution temperature(LCST), couldeffectively cool buildings compared to other materials. Into this hydrogels, weapplied coating layers controlling water evaporation. Our coating layer/PNIPAMstructures showed suppressed evaporation at a low temperature. But at a hightemperature, the evaporation rate was similar to non-covered PNIPAM hydrogels. Also,we confirmed a cooling about 20 ℃ reduction at a 60 ℃ condition. This layer/PNIPAM hydrogel could work for thermo-sensitive cooling. |
