Topological control is very important in designing nanostructural materials as well in developing biofunction. Aqueous solutions of PEG-DL-PA-L-PA underwent sol-to-gel to-syneresis, whereas those of PEG-L-PA-DL-PA underwent sol-to-gel transition as the temperature increased. On the other hand, the PEG-DL-PA-L-PA underwent conformational change to random coil as the temperature increase above 40 oC, whereas the PEG-L-PA-DL-PA kept α-helical secondary structure in a temperature range of 4 ~ 50 oC. In addition, cryo-TEM and dynamic light scattering confirmed that PEG-DL-PA-L-PA develop cylindrical bundles as well as spherical micelles, whereas PEG-L-PA-DL-PA develop spherical micelles in water. These results provide fundamental information on the sequences of polypeptide block plays a role in determining the nano-assembled structure as well as the temperature-sensitivity of the polymer aqueous solution. |
