Optically transparent mesoporous silica plates, which are crack-free up to centimeters in size and 0.5 mm in thickness, have been synthesized using solvent-evaporation method based on the self-organization between structure-directing agent (F127 and P123) and silicate (TEOS) in nonaqueous solvent. After calcination, the transparent silica plates were obtained without cracking or loss of mesostucture. Pore diameters of the plates were controlled from 37.7 Å to 40.3 Å with narrow pore size distribution using different concentrations of the template. Surface area and pore volume were controlled 608.8 m2g-1 to 758.4 m2g-1 and 0.54 cm3g-1 to 0.70 cm3g-1, respectively. In addition, metal nanoparticles (Au and Pt) in mesochannel were formed by autoreduction during the calcination in air via one-step synthetic route. The samples have a potential application in an area of separation, adsorption, catalysis, nanotechnology and so on. |
