Development of Biomimetic Scaffolds for Bone Tissue Regeneration |
초록 |
In recent years, more and more attention has been drawn towards biomimetic materials and strategies in scaffold engineering for bone. Biomimetic strategies involve the use of both organic and inorganic materials in an optimal configuration to support osteoinduction and osteoconduction. Herein, we discuss biomimetic scaffolds that were specifically designed to improve cell attachment and proliferation, as well as osteogenesis in vitro and in vivo. Various structural and functional considerations were imparted in the development of effective biomimetic scaffolds for enhancing osteogenesis and bone regeneration. Scaffolds used were derived from either calcium phosphate or naturally derived polymers such as chitosan and collagen, or combination. The resulting scaffolds possess key properties such as porosity, degradability, mechanical strength and biocompatibility. Surface modification or coating of scaffolds to improve osteogenic properties were also made. Scaffolds were specifically modified based on target bone defect or application for a successful and fast bone tissue regeneration. |
