A method for simultaneous determination of 12 rare-earth elements (REEs) in aqueous samples using dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction (DLLME) was developed. In DLLME, the extraction of 12 REEs was carried out with the mixture of dispersing solvent and extraction solvent from the aqueous sample solution. The dispersing solvent which was miscible with the aqueous sample solution was added to facilitate the effective extraction of 12 REEs. The extraction solvent also included bis(2-ethylhexyl) phosphate (HDEHP) as a chelating agent. Here, the effect of dispersive solvent type, extraction solvent type, and extraction time were investigated to optimize the extraction of 12 REEs. In the optimum condition, a mixture of acetone, chlorobenzene, and 0. 25 M HDEHP was used and the extraction recoveries were 82% ~ 93% for 12 REEs. This proposed method reduced the toxic organic solvent (hundred micro-liters) and the time for sample pre-treatment compared to traditional extraction method. |
