The electrospraying is based on the generation of monodisperse droplets under high electric potential. When the polymeric solution was used in electrospraying, the droplets are in complicated thermodynamic and kinetic mechanisms with consolidation of polymeric solutions. To understand these mechanisms, we examined the film morphologies on the processing parameters (working distance, temperature, voltages) and polymer properties (kind of volatile solvent, droplet sizes, concentration) with poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) solutions in acetonitrile/1,4-dioxane (4:1 v/v) at stable Taylor-cone jet mode. The roughness relies on flow rate and working distance. The film thickness ranging from several nano to micrometer is proportional to the emerged volume, concentration, and working distance. As a consequence, the electrospray coating might be applied into almost conductive materials with well-controlled morphology and thickness. |
