Here we report the synthesis and characterization of a series of Fe/Co catalysts based on 4,5-bis(arylimino)-1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8-octahydroacridine ligands with variable 2,6 – aryl substituents. All catalysts showed good activity towards polymerization. The polymerization reactions were characterized by substituent effect on activity and more significantly on the nature. The methyl substituted catalyst was highly active and produced mixture of oligomers and polymers simultaneously whereas the isopropyl one yielded only polymers. |
