Exceptional mechanical, electrical, optical and thermal properties of multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWNT), as well as its high aspect ratio and low density, make it ideal candidate for developing functional and structural polymer/MWNT composites. To achieve full reinforcing potential of MWNT, it must be well dispersed and exhibit good interface bonding with the matrix. Preparing homogeneous MWNT/polymer composites is normally a difficult task, which requires prior chemical functionalization of MWNT, and/or polymers very specifically designed to interact with MWNT. In this work, we report a simple method for preparing PVA/MWNT composite films. MWNT was first surface-modified with polyethylene glycol. And the PEGylated MWNT was dispersed with aqueous PVA solution. Composite film was prepared by evaporating water. |
