We prepared a heterobifunctional gelator composing of two different polymerizable groups, i.e. acryl and diacetylene groups. A heterobifunctional gelator showed entangled fibrillar structure and gelated monomeric solvents at low temperatures. In the photopolymerization of an organogelator (1.5 or 10 wt %) in hexyl methacrylate (HMA) at 0 oC, the entangled nanofiber was stabilized by the polymerization of the acryl groups of organogelator and HMA. Concurrently, the diacetylene groups of the gelator molecules were polymerized to form nanofibers. Interestingly, the polymerization of organogels induced the unique properties such as stability and fluorescence, etc. It set a good example of the possibility of embedding nanofibers in a polymer matrix. |
