제목 | Synthesis of amine-grafted mesoporous silica materials in a small-size flow reactor |
초록 | Adsorption processes have been known as effective techniques for nutrient removal from water streams. Many adsorbents such as activated carbon, and mesoporous silica materials have been tested for the possibility to remove nitrate salts effectively. In this work, SBA-15 was synthesized from tri-block-copolymer (P123) as a template, tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) as a silica precursor, hydrochloric acid as a catalyst and (3-Aminopropyl)triethoxysilane (APTES) as an amine-grafting agent in a small-size flow reactor. This pristine SBA-15 was amine-grafted by two different methods such as co-grafting and post-grafting. All the synthesized silica materials were characterized by nitrogen adsorption/desorption experiments at 77 K to obtain BET surface area, average pore size, and pore size distributions. The morphology of the samples was also checked by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM). It was proven that the surface modified silica material can be a good candidate for the adsorption of nitrates. |
