3-D Hybrid structure of functionalized BNNs-Ag-Graphene nano sheets as a fillers for epoxy composite with enhance thermal conductivity |

This work reports the preparation of functionalized BNNs-Ag-Graphene 3D-hybrid fillers for the improvement of thermal conductivity and stability of epoxy composite. BBN and Graphene are functionalized with silane coupling agents, which reduces Kapitza’s resistance and advances interfacial connections between the filler and matrix. Ag nanoparticles as the bridging agent in BNNs-Ag-Graphene help good transportation of phonons within the epoxy matrix. The in-plane thermal conductivity of the epoxy composite with 6 Wt. % BNNs-Ag-Graphene hybrid filler is enhanced up to ~5 folds as compared to neat epoxy. The epoxy composite shows the improved thermal stability by a factor of ~2.9, as evaluated by the integral procedure decomposition temperature measurement. The development of 3D functionalized hybrid structure generates more interconnective networks that help phonon transportation results in enhancement of thermal conductivity. These results help to improve the thermal conductivity of polymer composite with the low fraction of fillers. |
