Photodetectors based on organic-inorganic perovskites have witnessed rapid development due to their superior optoelectronic properties. To date, however, high dark current and low detectivity levels still serve as a clear bottleneck towards a practical application of these devices. We incorporated Au nanorods (AuNRs) within a ~10 nm-thick polyethyleneimine ethoxylated (PEIE) interlayer in vertical perovskite photoconductive photodetectors. Enhanced photocurrent by employing the AuNRs using localized surface plasmon resonance effects was demonstrated. The PEIE thin interfacial buffer layer was shown to strikingly suppress the dark current in these devices. The established synergy between both components reflected a significant enhancement of the device performance with high responsivity and detectivity. Our solution-processable plasmonic structures incorporated within a polymer-based interfacial layer are simple, economic, and efficient for high-performance photodetectors. |
