In this study, we have developed a novel conjugated sensor system in the form of a microfluidic chip. In order to investigate the feasibility of Lab-on-a-Chip-type polydiacetylene (PDA) sensors, we have employed a hydrodynamic focusing technique. Specifically, a blue-phase PDA vesicle solution was allowed to contact with a flow of cyclodextrin (CD) solution in a microfluidic channel and the fluorescence signal generated upon interaction between the two solutions were monitored. Interestingly, we were able to image fluorescent signals emitted from the CD-PDA reaction and observed CD concentration dependent increase of the fluorescent intensity. The results obtained in this study should be useful in the design of continuous detecting PDA sensor systems. |
