A meso-macroporous melamine-formaldehyde resin with high surface area has been synthesized via high internal phase emulsion (HIPE) polymerization and solvent-assisted curing. High internal phase emulsion polymerization, a facile preparation method with 3 components, oil phase, aqueous phase and stabilizer, is used to make macroporous polyHIPE melamine- formaldehyde resin. Solvent-assisted curing of the polymer generated a mesoporous structure in the maroporous of polyHIPE melamine-formaldehyde resin. The meso-macroporous melamine-formaldehyde resin have been characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Hg porosimetry, N2 sorption isotherm and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) analysis. |
