An effective treatment for diabetic ulcer of chestnut honey based carboxyl methyl cellulose hydrogel |

Chestnut honey is not valued as a flavorful sweetener, but is also considered as a therapeutic natural product . The honey is useful in treatment of wound and ulcer. The aims of this study were to evaluate the treatment of diabetic ulcer on the chestnut honey based carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) hydrogel dressing. CMC powder and manuka honey were dissolved in deionized water, and then irradiated by a gamma-ray to make the manuka honey based CMC hydrogel. In this experiment, the female db/db mice (weight between 18 and 24 g, aged 5 weeks) were given in vivo ulcer healing assessment. The dressing was changed every 2 days, and the rate of wound contraction and microscopic observations were assessed |
