A well-designed hybrid block copolymers consisting of amphiphilic molecule, polyethylene glycol methyl ether-block-polyisoleucine (mPEG-b-PILE), were synthesized by the ring-opening polymerization of α-amino acid N-carboxyanhydrides using N-trimethylsilyl amine terminated mPEG as a macro initiators. The self-assembly behaviors of the hybrid block copolymers in various solution were characterized by dynamic light scattering, scanning electron microscopy, and transmission electron microscope. It was found that the morphology of fabricated micelles by self-assembly was dependent on solvent, concentration of block copolymers, molecular weight of the block copolymers, and temperature. We can control the morphology of the micelles by changing the condition. Micelles which fabricated by self-assembly are useful for the micro-reactor and drug delivery system. |
